Adjective (విశేషణం) | English Grammar Lesson in Telugu | Learn English through Telugu
ఇవి మూడు, a, an and the.
degree, comparative degree and superlative degree ఉన్నాయి. Degrees యొక్క వాడకాన్ని బట్టి adjectives యొక్క గుణం తెలుసుకోవచ్చు. వీటి గురించి మీరు ఇంకొక పాఠంలో తెలుసుకోవచ్చు.
మనం ప్రతి adjectiveలోని రకాన్ని గురించి వివరంగా చూద్దాం.
Possessive
adjectives: Possessive adjectives స్వాధీనతను తెలియచేస్తాయి అంటే ఎవరికి చెంది ఉన్నాయో వీటి వలన మనకు తెలుస్తుంది.
Ex: My, your, his, her, its etc.
This is my bag.
ప్రతి possessive adjective తర్వాత noun వస్తుంది. పైన ఉదాహరణలో ‘this is my’ అంటే పూర్తి అర్థం లేదు. ‘This is my bag’ అంటే ఇది నా సంచి. ఇక్కడ ‘bag’ అనే noun కు ముందు ‘my’ అనే possessive adjective వచ్చింది.
Demonstrative
adjectives: ఏ noun లేక pronounను మనం సూచిస్తున్నామో వాటిని తెలియచేసేవాటిని demonstrative adjectives అంటారు.
Ex: this, that, these, those etc.
This novel is my favorite.
ఇక్కడ ఈ నవల నాకు ఇష్టమైనది అని చెప్పటం జరిగింది. అంటే దేనినైతే మనం నిర్దిష్టం (specific) గా సూచిస్తున్నామో అలాంటి వాటిని demonstrative adjectives అంటారు.
Indefinite
adjectives: Indefinite
adjectives - వాటి పేరుకు తగినట్లు వేటినీ నిర్దిష్టంగా సూచించవు. Indefinite pronouns లాగే ఇవి కూడా ఉంటాయి కనుక వీటిని గుర్తించటం తేలికే.
Ex: any, many, several, few, no etc.
There are no bananas in the
home.
ఇక్కడ bananas కు సంబంధించి ‘no’ అని చెప్పటం జరుగుతోంది, అలాగే అవి నిర్దిష్ట మొత్తంలో చెప్పబడకుండా ‘లేవు’ అని మాత్రమే అని చెప్పటం జరుగుతోంది. ఇలాంటి వాటిని indefinite adjectives అంటారు.
Interrogative
adjectives: Interrogative
adjectives ప్రశ్నలను అడగటానికి ఉపయోగపడతాయి. ఈ interrogative adjectives తర్వాత ఏదో ఒక noun వస్తుంది.
Ex: which, what, whose etc.
గుర్తుకు ఉంచుకోవలసిన విషయమేమిటంటే which, what, whose తర్వాత noun వస్తేనే అవి adjectives గా భావించాలి, లేకపోతే అవి adjectives కావు.
క్రింది ఉదాహరణ చూడండి.
Which book is your favorite?
ఇక్కడ పైన చెప్పిన ఉదాహరణలో which తర్వాత book అనే noun వచ్చింది కనుక which అనేది adjectiveగా భావించవచ్చు. అలాకాకుండా ‘which is your favorite book?’
What - సాధారణంగా
దేనినైనా ఎంపిక చేసుకోవటానికి
Whose - ఎవరికి చెందిందని అడగటానికి
Which - కొన్నింటి మధ్య ఏదయినా ఎంపికను ఎంచుకోవడానికి
Whose pen is this?
Which color do you like?
What food do you want to eat?
పైన ఇచ్చిన ఉదాహరణలలో ప్రతి interrogative adjective తర్వాత noun రావటం మీరు గమనించవచ్చు.
Attributive
adjectives: సాధారణంగా nounsకు ముందు వచ్చే adjectivesను attributive adjectives అంటారు. వీటికి verbతో ఎలాంటి సంబంధం ఉండదు. Attributive adjectives దానికి తర్వాత వచ్చే nounను modify చేస్తాయి.
Ex: black cat, slow journey, huge
money, large suitcase etc.
A black cat is on the road.
పైన చెప్పిన ఉదాహరణలో black అనే adjective cat అనే noun ను modify చేస్తోంది. ఈ రెండింటి మధ్యలో ఎలాంటి connecting or linking verb లేదు. ఇలాంటి వాటిని attributive adjectives అంటారు.
అలాకాకుండా adjectiveకు, noun కు మధ్య verb ఉండి, adjective, noun ను modify చేస్తుంటే అలాంటి adjectives ను predicative adjectives అంటారు.
Ex: The cat was black.
The suitcase seemed large.
ఉదాహరణకు alone అనే adjectiveను తీసుకుంటే, ‘he was alone’, అని వ్రాయవచ్చు, కానీ ‘we saw an alone man’ అని వ్రాయకూడదు. అంటే ‘alone’ ను attributive position లో వాడకూడదు,
కానీ predicative position లో వాడవచ్చు.
Coordinate
adjectives: Coordinate
Ex: She was wearing green, long-sleeved
sweater.
Quantitative
adjectives: ఏదైనా పరిమాణాన్ని సూచించటానికి వాడే adjectives ను quantitative adjectives అంటారు.
Ex: some, little, most, many, few,
whole etc.
He ate whole pizza.
There are many flowers in the
garden.
పైన ఇచ్చిన ఉదాహరణలలో whole, many అనే రెండూ కూడా pizza, flowers అనే nouns యొక్క quantity ని తెలియచేయటానికి ఉపయోగపడుతున్నాయి. ఇలాంటివాటిని quantitative adjectives అంటారు.
